铜佛像属于铸铜佛像雕塑之一,铸铜佛像贴金工艺在国内流传年代久远,贴金专用材料主要有：金银、铜、铝箔。传统贴金饰技法是先将成色很高的黄金,锤成极薄的金箔片,此时,金箔具有很强的附着性。制作胎模是佛像贴金的初始流程,胎模的好坏、构成、艺术效果和表面处理等环节直接影响佛像装金后的效果及防腐处理后的效果。先把铜佛像表面处理平滑,清除灰尘等污垢,把金箔和毛边纸用镊子夹起,让金箔平展,贴在佛像表面。用纯棉布（要质地柔软的）轻轻地拍打,使金箔和佛像表面结合,用柔软的羊毛笔来回轻扫。等到佛像贴金表面干燥以后、涂上一层保护胶或透明漆。 用传统贴金方法制作出的佛像贴金效果不同,主要在于处理底漆所使用胶水的配制不同。佛像贴金重要的是防腐蚀的性能和保护漆的质量有很大关系,保护漆的透明度高低直接影响黄金质感的效果。
